Stylish & Durable Honed Concrete

‘Honed concrete’ refers to a level of grinding that creates an anti-slip, even, matte finish.

It’s an excellent flooring choice for outdoor areas, combining hardwearing, durability with style. At L.L Projects, we grind your slab to the desired level of aggregate exposure and apply a penetrative sealer, resulting in a hard-wearing, slip-resistant surface.

Honed concrete makes a striking statement in alfresco areas like your patio, driveways, pathways and as pool surrounds. Best of all, it’s an affordable option that will stay virtually maintenance-free for decades.

Honed Concrete FAQS

Honed concrete makes a striking statement in alfresco areas like your patio, driveways, pathways and as pool surrounds. Best of all, it’s an affordable option that will stay virtually maintenance-free for decades.

Honing can transform an old, worn slab into a modern, stylish surface. However if a slab is not poured with the intention of being honed we can’t guarantee the end result. The slab’s current condition is crucial. Significant cracks, unevenness, or damage may require repairs before honing.

For the best result, speak with your landscaper or concreter and either they or you should contact us prior to your slab being poured to ensure it is poured within the specifications for honed concrete.

We prefer to hone the concrete just after the slab has been poured, prior to any frames or structures going up so we can grind right to the edge of the slab. However, it is then considered a finished floor and it is imperative that you or your landscaper protect it appropriately throughout the entire project. We will recommend it’s protected like a finished floor.
